About Chinese Dragon Boat Festival

  • Dragon Boat Festival, also called Duanwu Festival, is one of the four grandest traditional festivals in China, falling on 5th day of the 5th month in Chinese lunar calendar. The essential activities on this day have gradually evolved into eating rice dumplings, dragon boat racing, hanging calamus, hanging wormwood, fumigating atractylodes, angelica, and drinking realgar wine.
  • The renowned Dragon Boat Festival, it commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a Chinese poet and minister known for his patriotism and contributions to classical poetry and who eventually became a national hero.
