The Infrared Touch Screen Overlay are widely applied in ATMs, factory automation, plant control systems, ticketing machines, medical equipment, kiosks, POS systems, interactive whiteboards, large-scale applications, and office automation.
An infrared touch screen comprises an LCD monitor, an IR touch frame, and an infrared touch overlay. Typically, the overlay is a protective glass surrounded by the IR touch frame, which houses infrared LEDs and photodetectors. An optical bezel inserted between the glass and the frame secures the frame and transmits the infrared light from the LEDs. IR LEDs emit invisible infrared beams through the optical bezel, creating a grid on the overlay’s surface. Photodetectors, positioned opposite the LEDs, detect any interruptions in the beams caused by touch events on the overlay.
